What a year it has been. Like everyone, we look back on 2020 with mixed emotions. There is some disbelief, of course, over the fact that a worldwide pandemic has turned our lives – personally and professionally – upside-down which in many ways still seems surreal.

Despite the difficulties presented by 2020, AdvoLogix stayed committed to helping our clients continually improve their operations with new efficiencies and greater productivity. Our year included several product updates and enhancements and we achieved significant growth.  This past year, we saw our existing customers expand the use of AdvoLogix Matter Management at the highest level in company history as the work anywhere, anytime economy was accelerated by the pandemic as well as new adoption by organizations in all markets served.

Here is a recap:

  • In February we announced new features and improvements to AdvoLogix Matter Management, largely driven by our global user base and partner community. The release provided new automated, highly productive capabilities that are easy for legal teams to adopt, even in the most complex environments. It also added to our integration with CT Corporation Service of Process, including several capabilities for easy management and increased automation of the SOP workflow.
  • Improvements also were added to our document creation tool, AdvoDoc, and AdvoLogix Relationships Maps which provide powerful visual mapping between matters, sub-matters and participants. We also introduced a new Community Access Facility to provide users with greater control over community access to matter data.
  • In April we expanded our executive leadership team and advanced our product development with the hiring of tech expert Dave Schwab in the newly created role of chief product officer. In addition to overseeing ongoing development and support of our core matter management product, Dave provides vision and direction for developing transformative products that leverage emerging technologies to provide innovative ways for legal professionals to deliver service.
  • Our July product release included a new integration with UniCourt, a premier court record, case research and legal data portal. The integration automates processes previously carried out in separate systems, offering AdvoLogix users who also subscribe to UniCourt access to more than 100 million state and federal cases, 36 million court documents, 500 million parties and more than 2 billion docket entries. AdvoLogix users can now search, filter and download any court docket updates and related documents and associate them with specific matters in the AdvoLogix system.
  • The July release also added new features and improvements to AdvoLogix Matter Management that are designed to increase efficiency, enhance productivity and improve visualization of the status of events and tasks for any workflow.
  • In November we announced improved budgeting and timekeeping with the addition of fully customizable UTBMS code sets. The American Bar Association’s UTBMS codes are preloaded and can be customized in AdvoLogix for specific clients, matters, phases of matters and timekeepers, increasing the ease and accuracy of timekeeping and adding new flexibility and control in developing and managing budgets. The newest features allow users to measure budgets against actuals, giving them greater insight into profitability and the information they need to address any issues that might impact the budget – before they become a problem for the client or stakeholder.

All in all, it was a remarkably busy year for us!
